Beet's scientific name is beta vulgaris and belong to the chenopodiaceus family. Beets are also known as beetroots and their first crops were in the Mediterranean area. Beet is a vegetable with a lot of nutritional properties because of its high vitamin content, such as vitamin A, C, folate, betaine and minerals like potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and a high content of amino acids such as glutamic acid, aspartic, alanine, argine and valine.
